Since before the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, Delabole Slate worksurfaces have been used in just about every conceivable application. Thought to have been used by the "Beaker Folk" as "cooking stones" some 2000 years BC, Delabole Slate could have been the "original" stone worktop! Ideal in kitchens, bathrooms, conservatories and utility rooms around the house, slate surfaces are also the perfect choice for commercial projects. Designers have specified Delabole Slate bartops, reception desks, tables and shop counters in all manner of projects from Heathrow Airport to the National Theatre. Our use of traditional crafting methods gives each item a natural and individual finish. Slight irregularities and attractive natural markings are characteristic of this and adds to the uniqueness of your worktop.
For everyday use, we recommend that a specialist sealant be applied. There are various sealants available from The Delabole Slate Company, most of which will darken the colour and enhance any natural markings.
The slabs can be crafted to accommodate practically any design. Unusual or curved shapes can be cut to templates, whilst standard shapes can be made to drawings.
When placing an order, final dimensions and details must be provided. If your worktops cannot be accurately drawn (perhaps due to an uneven wall, or strange shape) a rigid template may be required. Demand for Delabole Worktops is constantly high, therefore please try to plan well ahead. Our sales team will be pleased to advise you of the current availability for a worktop order.
